Call your local food stamp office and find out where your local legal aide society is located, living on a fixed income like yours, you will qualify for cheap or free legal aide and an attorney can help you get this mess straightened out. going to the court with a copy of his death certificate should stop all divorce proceedings and that is where I would start, you can also ask the clerk to check and see if there is any legal matters pending with him, as far as lawsuits and the like.
you can also make an appointment with the local IRS office and ask them to find out for you if your taxes have or have not been filed. If they were never filed, you can straighten that out by filing them your self as married filing separate, If you owe any back taxes, the IRS will take payments.
what a mess. best of luck to you.
