How many times do they attempt to serve divorce papers before they just stop tryng ?
And then do they carry on with the divorce. I am in Missouri. Its a no fault state. Don’t know what other details are helpful. Cops or lawyers might be helpful here? don’t know or someone thats been through it. Thanks everyone!

I live in missouri and it depends if you have a special process server and you actually know where the spouse is staying they will hunt them down and find them if your attempting to have them served through the courts it can take forever they attempted 5 times before they gave up on me and I had to cough up the extra 275 dollars for the special process server which basicly stalked my husband and had him served he was pretty good at avoiding them. until they are served they cannot carry on with the divorce.
with no fault divorce, there are at least two attempts to serve, depending on what your state agrees upon… after the serving of papers fails, it goes before the courts… a family judge reviews the attempts, sets a divorce hearing, your ex is given one more opportunity to respond (they will try to serve him one more time with that court date) and if he is a no show, you will be granted your divorce within a specific time providing he doesnt show up in the courts and contest it, but even then, its just a matter of a hearing and if you still want the divorce, the clock continues towards divorce…. all states vary… some are three months, six months or even a year before its finalized from the time its accepted to te court.
You really have to find out what your divorce procedures are in Missouri… but no fault is generally this way.
I am not sure for Missouri. I am in Arkansas and my sister went through this. I’m not sure on serving the papers exactly, but I know when my brother in law wouldn’t sign the divorce papers, they gave him 3 chances. After the third and he wouldn’t sign they issued a warrant for his arrest.
There are several option on how you can serve divorce papers. It could be either to hand-deliver it personally, via certified mail, via first-class mail, or through a process server. If all else fails you can ask the court for permission to publish the notice for divorce in a publication of their choice, usually one that’s in the state where your spouse is living.
I know it is 6 months in California and also called uncontested or divorce by default when the other party does not show up.
