In the US the answer is no. If one party wants a divorce they cannot be kept in the marriage against their will. The only thing that can be done is to stall and drag out the divorce but believe me you don’t want to do that. Anything that you do to delay the divorce process will only end up costing all of you more emotionally and financially. The best thing you can do, even if you don’t really want the divorce, is to get it behind you as quickly and cheaply as possible. You don’t want to look back in five years and think that for the money you paid the two attorneys you could have put your kids through school or bought a new car!
Please try and see this as an opportunity for a fresh start for you. A chance to grow and try new things. Digging in and fighting for marriage the other person wants out of is not in your best interests.
Good luck.
why would you want to do that ?
if the other spouse does not want you around, you are much better off outta there !!
A divorce can be stalled but not stopped. In the end, the parties will part legally.
If you are wanting to stop a divorce or hold it up, talk to your attorney and a therapist. Your attorney will advise you on how to delay the proceedings and a therapist will help you find out why you want to keep someone in your life that wants to move on.
Its a big world out there…and if one person doesn’t want to share it with you – another person will.
